“In nearly two decades of the British Construction Industry Awards, few projects have come so close to matching all the winning criteria,” commented judges at the recent British Construction Industry Awards 2006 on Davis Langdon project The Menuhin Hall in Cobham, Surrey which won the BCI Small Building Project Award.
Part of the famous Yehudi Menuhin School, the project - for which Davis Langdon provided Project Management, Cost Management and Planning Supervision services - was called “an absolute gem of a design” and was just one of a number of Davis Langdon winning projects that scooped an award at the ceremony.
Judges carried on to say: “This delightful building demonstrates that traditional methods of design and procurement can still work extremely well when carried out with strong client leadership, commitment by all parties and good communication.”
Other winning projects included City of London Academy – a Davis Langdon/Davis Langdon Schumann Smith building -which scooped The Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award; Heelis, Office for the National Trust which took the BCI Building Award; Evelina Children’s Hospital – once again, a Davis Langdon/Davis Langdon Schumann Smith project, which took the BCI Judges Special Award and Ski Dubai, winner of the BCI International Award.
The British Construction Industry Awards were launched in 1988 and recognise excellence in the overall design, construction and delivery of buildings and civil engineering works.
