Our Community Support and Charitable Giving Programmes are a fixture of cultural life at Davis Langdon. As well as regular office fundraising events there are four other elements: Charity of the Year, Give as you Earn, Local Grants and Pro Bono Support.
Our current Charity of the Year, voted for by our people is the Sabre Charitable Trust, a UK registered charity working at minimal cost to help schools and other institutions in Ghana, West Africa with infrastructure improvements, resource supplies and staff training programmes. In addition to schools, Sabre also provides support to the health and conservation sectors.
The £20k grant we provide will be used towards building a new kindergarten which will be designed in conjunction with Davis Langdon and will take into account the use of sustainable technologies such as solar and wind power, rain water harvesting and eco-sanitation. This partnership is a perfect fit for Davis Langdon as our skills can be used in the consultation and project planning as well as building phase.
"We are extremely excited by our partnership with Davis Langdon, the correlation between the firm's core business and our programmatic focus means that we can draw down on expert advice to guide our projects in Ghana. Just in the first month of the partnership the response has been fantastic, and we can already see the benefit that this relationship will bring to the rural schools we work with in Ghana."
Dominic Bond, Sabre's Development Director
Other activities include ongoing Pro Bono projects across the UK include quantity surveying services on a new building for the Body & Soul charity, which is focused on families affected by HIV and AIDS. Your Story, who work with young people disconnected from society, are being supported through assessment of their property options. The New Horizons Youth Centre in Kings Cross London, is a day centre working with young people who are vulnerable, homeless or at risk. We are supporting them with a range of services including cost management, project management and tax services for the refurbishment of the centre. We also continue to support CRASH as Patrons and with cost and project management services.
The Red Cross, or Red Crescent as it is known in the Middle East, was selected as the Davis Langdon Middle East regional charity of the year. The various Davis Langdon offices will work together to build a programme of support for Red Crescent and this will evolve over the coming months.
Internationally Davis Langdon and Seah are working on local initiatives to benefit their communities.
