The firm, which is currently working on millions of square metres of commercial property, education, health, leisure and residential projects across the UK, has just launched the competition – open to those in full time education or those that have graduated within the last two years.
As part of the challenge, students have to match famous landmarks on a map of the world via www.mappedout.co.uk, a dedicated website. In addition, entrants will be asked to complete the question: “What famous landmark would you most like to visit and why?” The entrant matching the landmark with the correct country in the fastest time and answering the tie-breaker question will win £5,000 in travel vouchers.
“Davis Langdon works on high profile buildings across the globe, many of which will become the landmarks of tomorrow’s skyline so it seemed a fitting theme,” comments Jill Pett, Human Resources Partner at Davis Langdon.
“We welcome entrants from students of all disciplines not just those studying for a construction or property related degree. In fact, as a firm, we appoint a considerable number of non-cognates (those not studying an industry related degree) who are attracted by the range of career opportunities that the industry offers as well as our highly regarded Graduate Development Programme.”
A Graduate Development Programme that has won the firm a National Training Award with judges commenting that the programme was “providing the consultants of the future.”
“When we conceived the Graduate Development Programme, we were looking to create ‘consultants’ as a competitive differentiator. We found we were hampered by a shortage of professionally qualified staff. The solution was to ‘home grow’ consultants through our Graduate Development Programme”, comments Pett.
Since 2004, around 300 graduates have enrolled on to the programme that leads to Professional Chartership.
The closing date for the competition is 31st March 2008 with the winner being notified by 30th April 2008*.
