Global construction consultancy Davis Langdon, an AECOM company, today announced that it has been appointed employer’s agent for the shell and core phase of construction on The Tower, 1 St George Wharf, the new 50 storey residential tower to be built by the River Thames in London. This is another example of a landmark scheme in which Davis Langdon is intricately involved.
The Tower, part of the St George Wharf development, will be the tallest residential building in Europe with the penthouse providing unrivalled 360º views of the capital, towering above landmarks such as the London Eye.
The development sits within the Nine Elms regeneration area which is a huge developmental opportunity for many land owners working within a broad masterplan framework. Over the next few years the Battersea Power Station development and the American Embassy are high profile schemes which are also being progressed in the vicinity.
Davis Langdon has been working with the developer, St George, and the architect, Broadway Malyan, since 2006, providing cost management and procurement services. At present, Davis Langdon’s cost management role will continue in addition to employer’s agent. This follows the procurement process which culminated in a contract being awarded to Brookfield Multiplex.
Construction work has already commenced on site and is scheduled to be completed in 2014. This demonstrates
Davis Langdon’s continued long-term success in securing commissions in respect of tall buildings that are, and will, dominate the London skyline.
The Tower will have 223 high quality apartments over 48 floors with the ground and first floors given over to residents’ private facilities such as conference rooms, private dining, cinema and a luxury spa facility.
The Tower is topped out with a ten metre high vertical axis wind turbine providing renewable energy to landlord areas.
