The challenge
Davis Langdon Management Consulting was appointed by WRAP to review the opportunity to improve the level of recycled content in office and retail refurbishment projects.
The objective was twofold:
- Firstly, to quantify the actual and potential levels of recycled content in commercial and retail refurbishment projects
- Secondly, to develop a toolkit which enables users to quickly identify their own ‘Quick Wins’
The toolkit and case studies would support WRAP’s range of literature and technical support to clients aiming to improve the recycled content levels on their projects.
The result
The development of the toolkit was structured around common specifications used in office and commercial refurbishment schemes. These specifications were then linked to recycled content data. The toolkit provides a rapid way of identifying those materials which are most useful to improve.
Two case studies have been published on the WRAP website (one each for commercial and refurbishment schemes).
The outputs provide a strong evidence base which identifies the opportunities to improve recycled content at no additional cost.
