The project forms part of the Schools City Academy programme with Peter Shalson of SGI as the Project Sponsor.

The London Academy site consists of a South Site of 2.55ha and a North Site (north of Spur Road) of 4.7ha.

The new Academy Building, located in the South Site, will cater for 1,425 students, with a total gross internal space of 12,718m, arranged in three levels. This Southern area also contains hard and soft landscaping and sports facilities such as tennis and basketball.

The North Site contains a changing facilities pavilion and the new playing fields (football pitches, running track, etc.). The two sites are connected via an enclosed footbridge over Spur Road.

The project has successfully reached the last stage of construction, with completion of Section 1 due in June 2006, Section 2 due in August 2006 and Section 3 due in September 2006.

The London Academy opened in October 2006.
