Alternative methodologies that de-risk remediation rejuvenate the confidence in returns from investment in contaminated land.

It is not news to state that contamination can prevent previously-developed land from realising its full potential. In particular, the cost of remediation can affect the viability of marginal sites that might otherwise be developed, most notably housing. It is also not news that in the current market, local authorities have diminishing funds available to support regeneration, or their Part2A responsibilities, and the sites themselves have declined in value. Developers also have limited cash and so are prevented from undertaking large-scale strategic projects.
