The global economic crisis and continuing uncertainly around the UK economic environment has thrust significant change upon the construction industry. During this time, most clients have reduced their construction activity and, in many cases, have been forced to address their balance sheets and re-capitalise assets. However, recent months have seen a growing curiosity around the state of the contracting supply chain as several clients start to re-focus on their pipeline of development opportunity.
So what is the condition of the supply chain? How have contracting organisations faired during the recession? How much capacity and capability remains within the industry?
Over the past eight weeks, Davis Langdon surveyed and engaged with more than 70 contracting organisations and, in doing so, has captured key insights into the current state of the supply chain including strategy, turnover, orders, tendering activity, procurement trends and innovation.
