Lay clients rely on their teams to provide what is required and many have a natural desire to seek a second opinion. This is prudent and often fruitful, particularly where schemes are over budget.
Some clients, such as those developing PFI projects, have a particular focus on issues such as costs in use. On other occasions, engineering designers themselves ask us to check the designs and costs of unusual or complex systems before tendering.
We confirm that both the M&E brief and the engineers’ specifications and drawings developed from the brief meet the client’s requirements and expectations. We review contractors’ designs on the same basis and ensure they also meet good industry standards and criteria for flexibility and maintenance. We also advise on maintenance issues and arrangements that should be put in place during the defects liability period and thereafter.
In addition, we provide services to monitor and administrate commissioning, and oversee the production of operating manuals. We also snag works on completion and subsequently, and conduct defects inspections.
