Davis Langdon Schumann Smith (DLSS) is the market leader in delivering detailed specifications for projects anywhere in the world. Over 100 firms of architects have outsourced their specification function to us – because they trust us to help realise their designs within the contractual context.

Our first major project was Stansted Airport for Foster and Partners in 1986. Our continuous expansion since then reflects the growing involvement in the design process of contractors and specialist suppliers, as well as the increasing complexity of modern buildings and sophistication of construction techniques.

Together with the greater commercial maturity of architectural practices, this increase in collaboration has generated the need for a new kind of service – focused on preserving and accurately communicating design intent between all parties to the contract.

Schumann Smith merged with Davis Langdon in 2000. As DLSS, we are developing new services, such as managing design teams, and extending our international reach.
