Specification Consulting is a unique service combining traditional Specification Writing with contractual, procurement, design liability and materials advice to designers and Clients.
 
Producing technically accurate specifications is an onerous task, and many designers and Clients would rather rely on a specialist to undertake it on their behalf to feel confident that the risks are mitigated, allowing them to focus on design or management. Over 100 firms of architects have outsourced their specification delivery to us – because they trust us to help them realise their designs within the contractual context.
 
Our Specification Consultants bring 25 years of experience in the field of producing specification documents, having worked on numerous projects around the world and we share this expertise with our clients to benefit their project delivery.
 
Our first major project was Stansted Airport for Foster+Partners in 1986, as Schumann Smith Ltd. Our continuous expansion since then reflects the growing involvement in the design process of contractors, specialist suppliers and increasingly, clients wishing to have a greater influence over their investment portfolio and supply chain. Our services are continually evolving and we are actively developing our Sustainability and BIM (Building Information Modelling) capability to ensure we can continue to support our clients as technology develops.
