In 2004, Davis Langdon undertook a study to determine the cost of sustainable design. This study, which was a collaboration between the Research department and the Sustainability Sector, is available in complete format for download in our Research section.
The study was conducted to establish the costs of sustainable design by comparing the (construction) costs of green buildings with buildings housing comparable programs which did not have sustainable design goals. Incremental costs were analyzed (over starting budgets) and costs were compared for different measures and technologies used to meet sustainable design goals in the buildings studied.
